ABOUT US
Bringing the Final Frontier Into the Classroom
At Space Kitz, we're on a mission to make space science tangible, hands-on, and unforgettable for students around the world. Our kits and curriculum empower learners to capture real satellite data, explore the Earth from orbit, and build the skills that will define the future of aerospace, engineering, and environmental science.
Space Kitz was founded by Dave Erath, a lifelong innovator at the intersection of STEM education and emerging technology. Before launching Space Kitz, Dave co-founded DroneBlocks, a drone and coding platform used by thousands of schools to inspire the next generation of engineers. Under his leadership, DroneBlocks reached over a million students globally and became a staple in K–12 STEM classrooms.
Dave’s background spans instructional technology, government software engineering, and multiple successful EdTech ventures. From leading countywide drone education programs to closing seven-figure robotics sales pipelines, his mission has always been clear: make advanced STEM accessible, exciting, and real.
With Space Kitz, Dave brings that same passion to space exploration—helping students decode satellite signals, analyze live weather imagery, and become active participants in space science, not just spectators.
🚀 Our Curriculum Team
Built by Experts. Tested by Classrooms. Loved by Students. Space Kitz curriculum isn’t outsourced—it’s engineered by a world-class team of award-winning educators, researchers, and technical specialists. Every module is crafted to meet real classroom needs while pushing the boundaries of what K–12 STEM can be
Frederick Feraco
STEM Educator • Software Engineer • Drone & Data Science Specialist
A powerhouse in interdisciplinary learning, Frederick has taught AP Computer Science, developed over 100 iOS apps, and built tools to visualize real-time satellite and sensor data. Whether coding Python automation or running coral reef aquaculture projects, he blends tech and science into one-of-a-kind learning experiences.
John Karavias
Marine Biology Expert • Field Researcher • AMNH Professor
John’s led Arctic expeditions and built one of the country’s strongest high school marine science programs. He infuses Space Kitz with climate science, satellite-based Earth observation, and a belief that real science should be global, immersive, and data-rich.
David Herbert
Engineering Educator • Robotics Coach • PLTW Leader
David has designed inclusive, high-impact engineering programs and coached students to national robotics victories. He’s the mind behind our physical builds—ensuring students of all skill levels can design, construct, and launch their own real-world space investigations.
Dr. Robert Krakehl
Physics Educator • Equity-Focused Researcher • National Presenter
With a doctorate in physics education and a deep focus on equity, Dr. Krakehl ensures every lesson is academically rigorous and accessible to all students. His leadership keeps our curriculum grounded in strong pedagogy while reaching for the stars.
